Balthasar Anton Dunker (1746-1807)

His teachers in Paris were Johann Georg Wille, Joseph Marie Viens and Noël Hallé. From 1768, he turned to engraving and etching in order to earn a living.

In Bern, where he lived until his death, he worked closely with Johann Ludwig Aberli and Sigmund Freudenberger. He produced numerous drawings and etchings of landscapes and sights in the canton of Bern and the rest of Switzerland.
